tumbling through dysfunction

“I don’t want the world to see me, ’cause I don’t think that they’d understand” – Goo Goo Dolls, “Iris”

dark darkness loneliness mystery

I lay,
unable to move.
unable to rise.
through the weight of the world,
the weight of my tears.

at least my tears
can escape
the insomnia,
the impenetrable void of night;
veiling all,
even starlight.

and yet I see.
eyes closed.
you and I
in reverse.
tumbling through dysfunction.
years in the making.
